AWS 101: I chose to study AWS SAA to start a new chapter in my career

Is my current job good?

Currently, I have a pretty good and stable job as a Senior Software Engineer (Android). My main job is to build features on the Android platform, while updating new technologies to apply to the project. This is a position that I have spent a lot of time honing, with the goal of developing into a Staff Software Engineer – a goal I have been pursuing for over two years.

Although I love my current job, I still feel that expanding my skills beyond the scope of Android is necessary not only to meet the demands of the job but also to achieve my personal ambitions in my career.

Why Cloud?

Looking at the reality of the job, I see that Cloud is the foundation of all modern technology solutions. Any application, whether small or large, needs the cloud to some extent.

Choosing Cloud means choosing a general approach, helping me understand the entire process of deploying a technology solution – from planning, deployment, to operational management.

Why AWS?

Simple, one reason: Largest Market Share - AWS is the leading platform in the Cloud Provider market. Therefore, the recruitment demand for AWS will also be higher than for other technology platforms. At the same time, there will be more documents and knowledge sharing.

What is the orientation for the next year?

In the next year, I will focus on 2 things:

  • Learn in-depth about AWS: Complete the AWS Solution Architect Associate (SAA) certification in the near future to start mastering the use of solutions: EC2, RDS, Lambda.
  • Practical deployment: Participate in or self-deploy 1-2 real-world projects, from the initial step of designing the system architecture to scaling up to a larger level to understand how it operates end-to-end. Build a solid foundation in the cloud.
  • Improve the ability to manage and deploy applications with medium complexity and scale, with the specific goal of serving 1 million active users (A30).

Wish me luck!
